An Ideal Winter Skincare Routine
Blogmas anyone? Yesss let’s have it!
Hiii Beauties, it’s that time of the year when it’s all cozy and really beautiful outside(wink wink). I hope the winter blues are not kicking your behind. Speaking of winter, I’m not sure what part of the world you are reading from but if it’s not winter it’s surely Harmattan. That means the temperatures and humidity have drastically dropped. That will also mean warmer clothes, a heater on, and less daylight. I am guessing our summer clothes have all been packed away. It is important that while we make these wardrobe adjustments, we should not forget our skin.
Yes we need a little adjustment in terms of what products we use. The drop in temperature and humidity also affects the skin. This could come in the form of dry and flaky skin, chapped lips, and high sensitivity. While the base steps are the same, it is very important that we use products that are hydrating. So we are still cleansing, exfoliating, masquing, treating/moisturizing and yes wearing our SPF. We still have the sun rays coming through which is what we are protecting against so yes we wear sunscreen all year round.
During colder periods we should use products that are gentle to the skin, thicker density, non-comedogenic, and very hydrating. How therefore are we switching things?
Your cleanser should be gentle and non-stripping.
we are still exfoliating 2-3 times a week. Possibly opt for chemical exfoliants
This will be a good time to use a masque once a week at least for that extra dose of hydration. Masques with hylauronic acid, aloe vera and natural oils. This I tell you will be soothing and help to plump your skin
A hylauronic acid serum is a no brainer
You can alternate using your vitamin C and niacinamide acid. We need to be protecting our skin from free radicals. Antioxidants such as vitamin C are also brightening
A rich hydrating moisturizer will help to lock in moisture
This could be a good time to start using a retinol. Remember to only use it at night and please do not forget to wear your sunscreen during the daytime
Having a lip balm is also crucial.
If you can have a humidifier in your home can counteract the drying effect coming from your heater
I cant over emphasize how important it is to wear your sunscreen everyday!
What I most love to do during these cold season is going for chemical peels. I find the season is soothing for such treatments.
So tell me in the comment section what products will you be getting or treatments do you want to try.
Let’s keep it simple, Let’s keep it healthy for you
